Enfinity Italy and Mabo Group sign €300 Million Solar Agreement

Enfinity Italy and Mabo Group sign €300 Million Solar Agreement

Partnership plans to build 100 MWp of PV rooftop systems

Bibbiena, Italy – October 26, 2011 - Mabo Group, a leader in industrial building construction based in Tuscany, and Enfinity Italy have signed an agreement to co-develop and construct solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on commercial and industrial rooftops throughout Italy.

The agreement, with a total value of approximately €300 million, is aimed at developing 100 MWp of rooftop PV installations from 2011-2012. The collaboration will combine Mabo’s expertise in low thermal waste buildings together with Enfinity’s global experience in the development, financing, construction and management of PV systems. The result will be renewable energy generated on a national scale.

Under the terms of the agreement, Mabo Group will identify areas suitable for the development of the projects, conduct feasibility studies and perform all the necessary site acquisition tasks – Mabo has already selected 10 million square metres of suitable rooftop space from the 20 million square metres of covered areas it has built since the company was formed. Mabo’s experience and technology will accelerate the project’s completion and deliver highly efficient solar plants while protecting the original host structures.

Enfinity, as the engineering, construction and procurement (EPC) contractor, will undertake the construction of the PV plants and the subsequent operations and maintenance services.

Francesco Zorgno, CEO of Enfinity Italy, commented: “We are proud to be part of such an important collaboration, and we believe this agreement will bring great results in the future; Enfinity is investing heavily in Italy with a particular focus on building integration. Rooftop PV construction is in Enfinity’s DNA, borne of our long experience doing this in Belgium. We have used that experience to grow in a planned and sustainable manner in Italy, and we will continue to do so”.

Mabo Group Chairman, Robert Falsini said “Since 2000, Mabo Group has been designing and constructing buildings that can produce energy independently and direct any excess energy generated into the grid. Our goal is to develop and deliver more ambitious and innovative projects – and in Enfinity we have found a strategic partner with real synergy and we intend to grow together in the Italian renewable energy industry”.
